What is the Shekinah? (Shekhinah)

The questions was asked: "why do you not just use the term 'glory of God' instead of using the term 'Shekinah'?"

The reason we use this term is because it is significant to disassociate the term "glory"  from the English term for "glory" which you might associate with honor, praise or worship. The Shekinah is the manifestation of God in the earthly realm. It is as we discussed earlier, just the fingertip of God’s presence, His radiance, brilliance, holiness, power, and magnificence---that small amount of His awesomeness which we, as humans, can bear to witness. It also means the “dwelling or hovering” place where God’s presence was evident to His people. When it is present, it establishes an atmosphere, a holy environment. It hovered over the tabernacle as a cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night. It lit up Mt Sinai, it transformed Moses’ face and was manifested in Christ at the transfiguration. And it will, if we submit to it, transform our lives as we allow the power and radiance of God to shed light in the deepest parts of our hearts.

Read and Reflect on Ephesians 3:14f  AND NOTE - The Shekhinah of God has dimension (height, width, breadth) as an "environment", as a temple.

13 Therefore I ask you not to lose heart at my tribulations on your behalf, for they are your glory.

14 For this reason I bow my knees before the Father,

15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name,

16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man,

17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love,

18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth,

19 and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.

20 Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us,

21 to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.
