Teaching and Learning are measured by whether or not a student reaches an
Instructional Goal. We need to know where students are and where they
need to go. These are defined in "Instructional Goals and Objectives."
(See How to build and define Instructional Goals and Objectives). You
can't get somewhere if you don't head in the right direction. What is it
you want your students to be able to do? Instructional Goals are expressed
in "action verbs". They are observable.
Example: All students will exhibit a love for others through acts of
kindness.
Non-example: All students will understand what love is.
Multiple Objectives are listed under each Goal and describe the smaller
steps required to achieve the Goal.
Example: Obj 1.1: All students will participate in sending cards to the
sick of the congregation.
Non-example: Obj 1.2: All students will know how to send cards to the
sick.
