Classroom Exploration and Initial Consultation​


We begin with "Observation Day". I come and just spend time with your teachers and students. Looking around the classrooms I make a note of what you already have that can easily be used within a math task. Almost any center that is present can be adapted to rich mathematical learning opportunities. I also look through the literature that you have available within your preschool. Many picture books can easily be adapted with just a few questions or activities as another great opportunity to provide mathematical learning opportunities. I will create a report for the director that addresses some options in moving forward based on your classroom scenarios. This initial visit usual is between 2-4 hours. 

​Professional Development Options

Based on observations of the classroom environment and your needs we will create a unique Professional Development plan that works best for your school, teachers and parents. Some of the options that are available are listed below:

  • After hours Professional Development- 1 hour sessions geared to age level, mathematical concepts, and how teachers can use what they are already doing to kick up the mathematical learning. Minimum of 3 sessions

  • Within the school day- 2 hour sessions where lessons are modeled, and also teacher coaching can take place. Allows teachers to observe the questions and activities asked in order to work towards  students' mathematical understandings.

  • Parent Workshops- These can be as varied as your imagination. This provides our parents with a better understanding of the developmental mathematic trajectory, and activities, books, or games that they can use at home to support the learning.
